Biography

A highly respected figure both at Fluxmans (of which he is the doyen) and within the legal community, Phillip needs little introduction. Global publications such as Chambers and Partners, universally regarded as the world’s leading authority on globally renowned law firms and lawyers, describe him as “a highly regarded lawyer with a long-standing reputation in the market. His many years' transactional experience has furnished him with a comprehensive understanding of corporate and commercial law issues.”

Phillip is acknowledged as one of South Africa’s leading commercial lawyers and this, together with his exceptional leadership skills, is evident in his illustrious legal career. His client list is wide-ranging across all sectors and includes local and international contacts, all of whom have benefitted from his formidable expertise.

Phillip was appointed Senior Partner at Raphaely-Weiner prior to its merger with Fluxmans in 1990. In 1997 he was appointed Senior Partner of the merged firm before becoming the CEO and Senior Partner of the firm on its incorporation in 2004, a position he continued to hold until 2020 when he stepped down to enjoy his most recent position as Executive Consultant.

In addition to Phillip’s legal experience and expertise, he has served on the boards of many listed companies including Profurn (where he served briefly as Executive Chairman), Tiger Wheels (as Non-Executive Chairman) and Caxton and CTP Publishers and Printers.  Phillip is currently the Chairman of Super Group Limited.
