In response to the threats posed by COVID-19, Fluxmans has implemented a number of protocols to ensure the continuity of efficient and quality services to clients.  We remain committed to the uninterrupted provision of our services in a secure manner (remotely where necessary) to meet all of our clients’ needs.

COVID 19 – Protect your Workforce. Protect your Business.

There are a number of potential labour issues that may soon arise given the unprecedented pace of the virus now affecting business in South Africa and worldwide.

Fluxmans has been inundated with queries regarding – what leave protocol to follow, should an employee contract the virus, will that count as annual leave, unpaid leave, or sick leave? Can an employee who suffers from respiratory issues refuse to come into the office? What happens if an employee takes advantage of working from home and does not deliver on their required work as per their employment contract? Is it necessary to adapt employment contracts to include the COVID-19 virus protocol?

Section 8 of the Occupational Health and Safety Act 85 of 1993 (OHSA) places a positive duty on all employers to provide and maintain, as far as is reasonably practicable, a working environment that is safe and without risk to the health of its employees. Aligned with this, Fluxmans has taken the necessary steps to protect its employees, clients and service providers to the full extent possible.

Apart from the standard precautions, such as regular hand washing, the use of hand sanitisers and a no handshake policy, Fluxmans has also:

  • suspended the use of its biometric clocking system and introduced other measures to lessen physical contact;
  • adopted a policy of social distancing inside and outside the office
