Charles Ancer

charles-ancerCharles is a corporate, mergers and acquisitions lawyer specialising in the retail, franchise and mining sectors and has extensive experience in advising domestic and international clients on their South African and African operations.

Charles has advised on a number of prominent mergers, take-overs and joint ventures. He also advises on company and insider trading laws, corporate governance and on warranty and indemnity insurance. Charles has advised clients on the establishment of prospecting and mining operations as well as the acquisition or disposal of assets and operations in jurisdictions across Africa.

Charles commenced his legal career and became a partner at Hofmeyr Herbstein Gihwala, continuing after the Cliffe Dekker Hofmeyr merger; thereafter Charles was a director at Norton Rose Fulbright.

Charles is a member of the Law Society of South Africa’s tax matters and exchange control committee.

Charles holds the degrees of BA LLB (Wits), Mining Law Certificate (Wits) and IT Law Certificate (Wits).
