Colin Jeffrey Strime


Colin has been lauded in various reputable rankings including Chambers and Partners, who celebrate globally revered lawyers and law firms, and who noted that he “is a highly regarded lawyer with a particularly notable reputation for his contentious work in the restructuring and insolvency field”. Peers note him for being “a first-class insolvency litigator”.

Colin is one of South Africa’s leading insolvency, business rescue and litigation attorneys with extensive experience in corporate and commercial-related litigation, High Court litigation, and insolvency and insolvency-related law including inquiries and interrogations, business restructuring and turnaround. Colin has managed from start to finish high profile business rescues in banking, retail, steel and mining sectors.

He offers cross-border expertise to a wide range of clients, including but not limited to, listed groups, banks, liquidators/trustees, aggrieved creditors in insolvency matters, and the South African Revenue Service (SARS).

In addition to his active practice, he is frequently interviewed on air and in print publications and has regular articles published in leading magazines and newspapers.

Colin has presided from 1993 to 2001 as a Commissioner in the Small Claims Court in both the magisterial districts of Johannesburg and Randburg.

He was also for approximately 13 years the South African representative of Bank Leumi Le Israel, a foreign international bank which had a presence in the Republic of South Africa. He held this position until it surrendered its South African licence.

In 2003 Colin merged his practice Kallmeyer & Strime with Fluxmans Inc. Since then he has headed the Fluxmans litigation and insolvency division and thereafter on the promulgation of the new Companies Act, head of its business rescue division. He was appointed Joint CEO of Fluxmans in 2020.

Colin obtained his B.Proc degree at the University of Witwatersrand in 1979 where he was awarded the Law Society Prize by the Faculty of Law for ‘the most outstanding student enrolled for the degree of B.Proc each year in each of the Universities of the Transvaal‘.
